Married in Mexico

Lets go back to June 26th when we were boarding our plane to San Jose del Cabo, Mexico to began our wedding festivites....

Wow so the 17 month wait of being engaged was finally coming to an end! We had done it, living 2 hours apart the entire time and both busy college students, phew it felt like we would never see this day. Having some of our closest loved ones with us to celebrate a week of fun in Mexico together. Chris and I could not wait to share the beautiful resort and quaint town of San Jose with everyone. The week leading up to the big day we enjoyed the sun, went scuba diving and were able to enjoy one of my very favorite holidays (4th of July!!), which also happened to be our Rehearsal day. The day of the rehearsal  we had such a wonderful day, girls were pampered at the spa while all the guys went deep sea fishing. After we were all cleaned up we had a quick and painless rehearsal then off to an amazing dinner! As a side note if you are ever in San Jose you must eat at Habaneros- best food we have ever eaten. The restaurant owners were so gracious to us and treated us like kings. Not only did we have wonderful food and service, but we had asked my Mom and Chris' Mom and Dad prepare speeches to give at dinner. Wow do we ever love them and their kind, thoughtful words they expressed. They truly were heartfelt and will be cherished for a lifetime. Then the only way to make the night better was to sit and enjoy a firework show back at the resort to celebrate the 4th! I know kind of ironic they celebrated an American independence in Mexico, but I was one happy girl. If you aren't aware I have a slight infatuation with fireworks. To me there is some sort of magic about them. If you think about it there is not many things in this world that will entertain and awestruck an audience the way that fireworks do. They always put a smile on my face and make me giddy like a little girl. That night I truly went to bed with the biggest smile on my face and more anxious and excited for the next day to come!

We hired our wedding photographer to come to the resort on the 4th to shoot a few pictures of us with the fireworks in the background.

July 5, 2012--- Wedding Day!

The day had finally come! I could finally put on my white dress and veil and be walked down the aisle by none other than my wonderful big brother.  I'm pretty sure I woke up at about 5:30am and gave up trying to sleep... my mind was racing to ensure I didn't forget anything :) That morning I decided instead of heading out for a run with all the ladies, to take some time to write in my journal so I could always read back my thoughts of that day. I remember sitting on my hotel room balcony gazing at the waves crashing on the beach and the warm breeze flowing through my hair and feeling such peace knowing without a doubt that I was exactly where I was supposed to be in life.  I was marrying my eternal companion and I could feel that peace and comfort from deep inside my heart that my life was heading down the exact path it was meant.  And in that moment the stress of not having every detail be perfect, or my hair not stay curled or whatever the minor detail that would worry any bride, suddenly was put into perspective and I knew that the only thing that mattered was Chris and I, and the commitment that we were entering in to.

The day seemed to go flawlessly smooth and the moment I laid eyes on Chris at the end of the aisle, I had a difficult time holding back my emotion. It was one of joy, excitement, compassion and comfort. We had made it!! The minister gave a beautiful ceremony and then the night began! Man oh man do I have the very best friends and family. There may have only been 27 people there, but we covered every inch of the dance floor all night long. Our DJ was fantastic, and she even sang and played the piano for a few songs. She made it such a personal night, even singing my Grandparents wedding song it was just so sweet.

So just as I was trying to soak in how amazing and perfect our day had been, our photographer pulled us aside asking if she could take a few more pictures as it was a full moon and the lighting was perfect. We stood where she asked and then as I least expected fireworks began shooting into the sky right above us!! I just remember throwing my arms around Chris and asking him how??? when??? I had no idea how he planned this without me knowing of it! Because of Chris' schooling and preparing for the DAT and Dental School applications I was the one who really did all of the wedding planning and communications with our wedding planner down at the resort so I had no idea how he was able to get everyone in on my surprise without someone slipping and telling me! Anyways the fireworks were unbelievably great and he knew just the way to make my wildest dreams come true. How did I luck to to marry this man?!?
